Is MONAT Global a good network marketing company to join? MONAT is an established direct-selling company with a substantial haircare and beauty product line, a compensation plan that rewards retail sales and team development, and a track record stretching back to 2014. But there’s a big difference between finding a company you like and actually making money with it. MONAT’s own income disclosure makes that painfully clear.
In this MONAT Global review, I’ll look at the history, products, costs, compensation plan, income disclosure, controversies, and what I’d focus on if I were considering building the business. I’ve been in network and affiliate marketing since 2002, and the part I care about most isn’t the fancy rank chart. It’s why I would put higher recurring commissions from my own customers to work now, while developing the leveraged team income I still believe in over time.
What Is MONAT Global, and Who Owns It?
MONAT Global launched in 2014 as a direct-selling haircare company associated with the Urdaneta family and the Alcora business group. It is headquartered in the Miami area of Florida. Its name is derived from “modern nature,” reflecting the brand’s emphasis on naturally inspired beauty products.
The Urdaneta family’s background in beauty and direct selling helped give MONAT an established business foundation rather than the typical brand-new MLM built around a single product. Rayner Urdaneta became one of the most recognizable faces of the company, while the broader family and executive organization have been involved in its development. Leadership roles can change, so prospective distributors should check the current executive roster rather than assume the same people hold the same titles indefinitely.
MONAT initially built its reputation around premium shampoos, conditioners, scalp treatments and its REJUVENIQE oil. It subsequently expanded into skincare, body care, cosmetics and wellness. The company remains operational as of this review in November 2026.
That history counts for something. I would generally rather see an established company with real customers and repeat-use products than a brand-new opportunity selling excitement about getting in early. But a company being around for years doesn’t automatically mean the average distributor is making a worthwhile income.
If you’re serious about making money with MONAT, why spend the next year recruiting people, hoping a few will actually build, while collecting small commissions along the way? You could be earning much larger recurring commissions from customers you personally bring in, without waiting for a downline to produce.
Build your MONAT team for long-term leveraged income, but don’t make the mistake of depending on it for all your income. Start building a higher-paying, customer-based residual income stream at the same time.

What Products Does MONAT Sell?
MONAT’s core business is premium haircare, but its catalog is broader than it used to be. The main categories include:
- Haircare: Shampoos, conditioners, hair oils, scalp treatments, styling products, repair systems and products marketed for thinning hair.
- Skincare: Cleansers, serums, moisturizers, eye treatments and specialty skincare systems.
- Body care and makeup: Body wash, lotions, facial cosmetics and related products.
- Wellness: A smaller supplement offering tied to hair and beauty support.
Some examples from MONAT’s online catalog include its Renew Shampoo, IR Clinical Thickening Shampoo, REJUVENIQE Oil Intensive, Replenish Masque and Bond IQ products. At the time of research, the listed U.S. retail prices included approximately $50 for Renew Shampoo, $53 for IR Clinical Thickening Shampoo, $108 for REJUVENIQE Oil Intensive and $66 for Replenish Masque. Prices, promotions and availability can change.
These are not bargain-bin products. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing. People will pay premium prices for something they love and keep buying. But premium pricing creates a very practical question: will your customers reorder at those prices because they genuinely prefer the products, or are they buying mainly to support a friend?
Are MONAT Products Unique?
MONAT has branded formulas, product systems and a recognizable identity. Those are advantages. Still, haircare is an incredibly competitive market. Customers can buy shampoos, conditioners, scalp treatments and oils from salons, stores, specialty brands and online retailers.
I don’t believe a product has to be the only one of its kind to succeed. It does have to give people a good reason to come back. If customers love what they’re using and reorder without being pushed, that’s the kind of foundation I want in a network marketing business.
Here’s my favorite question when evaluating an MLM: would the customer keep buying the product if there were no compensation plan attached? If the answer is no, I wouldn’t want to build my long-term income around it.
How Does the MONAT Compensation Plan Work?
MONAT calls its distributors Market Partners. Its compensation plan combines direct product sales, customer-related bonuses, team commissions and rank-based incentives. The company uses a structured downline and ranks ranging from Market Partner through senior executive leadership titles.
The main ways a qualifying Market Partner may earn include:
- Retail sales: Earnings connected to selling MONAT products to customers.
- VIP customer activity: Eligible compensation associated with customers who purchase through MONAT’s VIP program.
- Team sales: Commissions or bonuses tied to qualifying product volume generated within an organization.
- Rank advancement and leadership: Additional bonuses and incentives when specific sales and organizational requirements are met.
Rank qualifications and payouts depend on personal volume, group volume, organization structure and other plan conditions. Don’t assume that because a chart shows multiple levels of earnings, you’ll be paid on every sale throughout those levels. You must actually meet the requirements.
I deliberately won’t throw out a neat list of level-by-level percentages without confirming the latest compensation-plan chart. Plans change, and an outdated chart can make a review misleading. The official plan is available through MONAT’s compensation-plan page, and the current Market Partner agreement governs what gets paid.
What Does It Cost to Join MONAT?
MONAT’s 2025 U.S. income disclosure identifies a $99 Starter Kit as the required initial purchase to open a business, with a specific exception in North Dakota. The company also notes potential renewal fees and optional expenses such as samples, inventory, shipping, training, travel and other business costs. Its April 2026 U.S. policies also describe starter-kit requirements.
Before joining, verify today’s enrollment price, renewal fees, sales-volume requirements and any customer or product-purchase conditions needed for commissions. There’s a big difference between the minimum cost to enroll and the amount someone chooses to spend trying to build a business.
MONAT also offers a Flexship program for automatic product deliveries. Convenience is fine, but make sure you understand the billing and cancellation rules before signing up.
How Much Money Do MONAT Market Partners Actually Make?
This is the part of the MONAT review I’d pay the most attention to. According to MONAT’s official 2025 U.S. Income Disclosure Statement, the average annual gross income for all U.S. Market Partners, including active and inactive participants, was $665. The company says 44% were inactive and earned no commissions that year.
At the entry-level Market Partner rank, which accounted for 91.69% of U.S. Market Partners in the disclosure, average annual gross earnings were $81, with a median of $8. These figures are before business expenses and are not profit.
Yes, there are people in MONAT who earn substantial commissions. The same disclosure shows much higher earnings at advanced ranks. But those ranks represent a very small share of participants. You can’t look at the top earners on stage and assume that represents the likely experience of somebody joining today.
To be fair, the all-participant average includes people who did little or nothing. That matters when interpreting the number. It doesn’t erase the underlying challenge: most people who join a network marketing opportunity never develop a large, productive customer base and team.
Those numbers are a reminder that signing up and building a meaningful income are two very different things. And they’re a good reason to compare what you earn from a customer sale, not just what you might earn after reaching a leadership rank.
It can take months, even years, to find and develop builders inside your business. I’ve found a way to create way bigger upfront income along side any company you choose to build long term.

Why Is Building a Network Marketing Team So Difficult?
I love network marketing. I got started online in 2002, and I’ve personally recruited thousands of people over the years. The best part of the model is the leverage. You can develop a team of capable people who make sales and build organizations of their own. Eventually, new customers and team members can come into your business through work you didn’t personally do.
That’s a powerful concept. But the part people don’t talk about enough is human nature.
Most people you recruit are not going to become serious business builders. Some will love the products and remain customers. Some will enroll a friend or two. Others will start strong, get distracted, and disappear. And a small percentage may become the people who actually build a significant organization.
I’ve learned you can’t take someone who wants to give 20% effort and somehow motivate them into giving 80%. You can teach, encourage and support people, but you can’t do the work for them.
That’s not a criticism of the people who join. Everyone has different goals, abilities and priorities. It’s simply something you need to understand if you’re planning to build a large team.
Finding a handful of productive leaders can take months or years, and in my experience it can require recruiting a substantial number of people. During that time, you may have a growing organization on paper while the monthly commissions remain disappointingly small.
Why More Training Alone Doesn’t Fix the Problem
I’m all for training. But there’s a difference between giving someone the tools to succeed and spending every week trying to drag unwilling people across the finish line.
I once taught a woman on my team the exact lead generation strategy I was using successfully. She worked at it, but it wasn’t a good fit. She eventually learned to generate leads through Facebook and got so good at it that she was outrecruiting me.
That’s why I believe people need access to different marketing strategies and real live support. One person might do well with social media. Another may prefer YouTube, blogging, paid traffic or email marketing. Your job isn’t to force everyone into the same method. It’s to help serious people find a method they can actually use consistently.
But even with great training, many won’t do much. So you need to keep bringing in new people and let their actions show you who wants to build. That’s why I like pairing the long-term upside of team building with a separate, higher-paying direct-customer model. You can keep looking for those few serious leaders without making your entire income depend on finding them.
What About MONAT Complaints and Lawsuits?
MONAT has faced consumer complaints and lawsuits involving allegations of hair loss, scalp irritation and marketing practices. A federal multidistrict litigation docket was established in 2018 under the title In re: Monat Hair Care Products Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation in the Southern District of Florida.
It’s important to distinguish allegations from proven findings. The existence of a lawsuit doesn’t establish that every complaint was valid or that MONAT’s products cause hair loss generally. Likewise, positive testimonials don’t establish that every product works for everyone. Anyone concerned about sensitivity or adverse reactions should review ingredients and seek appropriate medical advice.
The company has also faced scrutiny over marketing and income representations associated with direct selling. If you’re evaluating the opportunity, don’t rely on dramatic before-and-after photos or distributor lifestyle claims. Look at the actual products, written policies and income disclosure.
As a separate, more recent matter, a California Proposition 65 complaint filed in May 2026 concerns alleged warning requirements for a MONAT-branded travel case. That’s a product-accessory warning dispute, not evidence that MONAT shampoo contains the chemicals alleged in that case.
Does MONAT Provide Training and Support?
MONAT offers company materials, product education and an established Market Partner community. Your individual sponsor and team may also offer calls, presentations and support. How useful that support is can vary tremendously.
Before joining, I’d ask practical questions. Will someone help me learn to find customers outside my immediate circle? Can I get feedback on my actual marketing? Will I learn how to build an email list I control? What happens when I get stuck?
Watching an inspirational training video is not the same as having an experienced marketer look at what you’re doing and tell you what to improve.
Why I Would Build a Second Income Stream Alongside MONAT
Here’s where my perspective has changed over the years. I still believe in leveraged team income, and I still think network marketing can be a great business model. But I wouldn’t make a developing downline my only route to meaningful residual income. I’ve recruited thousands of people. I know how long it can take to find the handful who actually build, and how little the commissions can amount to while you’re searching.
Think about the math. You can recruit someone who buys a product or two, stays for a little while, and never builds. You can repeat that process dozens of times before finding a few people who take the business seriously. Meanwhile, you’re doing the marketing, finding prospects and helping everyone get started.
Now compare that with a model where you can earn much larger recurring commissions from customers you personally enroll, without first building a big team or qualifying for a leadership rank. The commission per paying customer matters. A higher percentage on a product people genuinely need can change the economics of the work you’re already doing. Of course, a high percentage alone means nothing without real customers, retention and a worthwhile net margin.
I’m talking about products that people building a network marketing business already need: lead capture pages, email follow-up, traffic and lead generation training, and experienced help when they get stuck.
That’s the part I find so practical. You’re not talking about abandoning MONAT. You’re looking at a potentially complementary customer business built around the marketing skills and tools that can help you grow MONAT in the first place, provided MONAT’s current outside-business rules permit the arrangement.
When you personally refer a customer to a recurring service, the sale can start generating a commission according to that program’s terms. You aren’t waiting for a recruit to become a leader. That’s why I see higher direct-customer recurring commissions as a potentially faster route to a meaningful residual than relying only on a team that’s still being built. Faster isn’t automatic: you still need to attract customers, make sales and keep them satisfied enough to stay.
Why Having Two Income Streams Matters
I spent nine years building a network marketing company that was shut down in 2015. I know what it feels like to invest years of your life into an organization and then have the business disappear.
That doesn’t mean MONAT is going anywhere. I have no reason to predict that. It does mean that any MLM can change its compensation plan, be acquired, lose momentum or close. No one should pretend those risks don’t exist.
When you develop a transferable skill like lead generation and build your own email list, you’re building assets that aren’t tied to one compensation plan. You can keep reaching prospects and building relationships regardless of which products you decide to promote.
There’s one important detail for MONAT Market Partners: the company’s April 2026 policies contain restrictions on participation in other direct-selling businesses and rules for outside affiliate programs. A complementary offer must comply with those rules. In particular, the policies allow certain affiliate-only arrangements while restricting affiliate programs involving recruiting or downline compensation. Read the actual policy before assuming any second opportunity is permitted.
I’ve recruited thousands of people in network marketing, and I can tell you first hand that most people will do little to nothing to help grow your team and income. A stronger upfront program is the shortcut to reaching your income goals faster.
Click the banner below and I’ll show you how that works.
Who Is MONAT a Good Fit For?
MONAT may appeal to someone who genuinely enjoys premium haircare and beauty products, likes sharing product recommendations, and wants to develop a customer base over time. Its established catalog gives distributors more than one item to discuss with potential customers.
It may be a poor fit if you dislike selling beauty products, can’t comfortably recommend the prices, or expect your sponsor to build the business for you. It’s also a poor fit for anyone who needs dependable income quickly. The income disclosure simply doesn’t support that expectation for most participants.
I’d also be careful if you’re joining primarily because somebody promised you a great position in their team. Position alone doesn’t create retail customers. And no sponsor, no matter how successful, can make your own business productive without sales activity.
My Final MONAT Global Review: Is It Worth Joining?
MONAT is a real, established direct-selling company with a broad beauty product line and a business model built around customer sales and team development. Its longevity and recognizable products are positives. Its premium prices, competitive market, past product-related litigation and modest typical distributor earnings are important considerations.
If you love the products, understand the costs, and are comfortable with the compensation plan, MONAT might be a company you want to build. But please don’t confuse choosing the right company with having a plan to make money.
After more than two decades in this business, I can tell you that most people you recruit won’t do much. That’s not an insult; it’s what I’ve seen after recruiting thousands. Finding the few serious builders is worth doing because team leverage can be powerful. But it may take hundreds of enrollments and years of patience, and the commissions along the way can be a whole lot smaller than the recruiting presentations suggest.
That’s why I’d compare the recurring dollars earned per personal customer before getting dazzled by the number of levels in a pay plan. A model paying significantly more on customers you personally enroll may let you build a worthwhile residual with far fewer paying customers than a low-commission model would require. It still isn’t guaranteed income, and customer retention matters. But the math is worth a serious look, especially when the offer involves marketing tools, training and live help that business builders can actually use.
Why spend months or even years recruiting hundreds of people, hoping to find a few serious builders, while earning peanuts along the way? There’s a much smarter way to build residual income. You can earn substantially larger recurring commissions from customers you personally enroll, without needing a massive downline or waiting for other people to produce.
And here’s the best part. You can still build your network marketing team while creating a second income stream that doesn’t depend on your MLM company’s future.
Click the banner below and see why I believe this is a much better way to build a serious residual income.
