Carico International Review: Is It a Good MLM Opportunity?

November 1, 2026 by Nate Bianco Leave a Comment

Carico International Review: Is it a good MLM, plus the #1 thing you need to focus on to make the money.

Is Carico International a legitimate network marketing company, and is its business opportunity worth considering? Carico is an established direct selling company founded in 1967, offering products such as cookware, water filtration systems, air purifiers and sleep products. Its sales model has included commissions on personal sales and team production, making it relevant to people researching MLM opportunities. But there’s an important distinction between selling higher-ticket household products and building predictable monthly residual income. Let’s look at both sides.

What Is Carico International, and Who Founded It?

Carico International was founded in 1967 by Richard R. Cappadona and is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. That’s a long track record in an industry where companies can come and go surprisingly quickly.

Rather than focusing on nutritional supplements or a monthly subscription, Carico sells household products through a direct selling model. Its representatives can introduce customers to products and, depending on their role and applicable compensation arrangement, may also earn from sales generated by a team.

That longevity is a genuine positive. I’ve spent more than two decades in network and affiliate marketing, and I’ve seen firsthand that even a company that looks solid today isn’t guaranteed to be around forever. Carico’s history deserves credit, but I would still evaluate its products, compensation and customer demand before deciding to build a business around it.

If you’re looking at Carico as a business, don’t stop at the company’s age or product presentation. Ask yourself how you’ll consistently find people who actually want what you’re selling. That’s the part of the business that tends to separate enthusiasm from results.

If you’re serious about building a successful business with Carico International, you need a way to generate a steady flow of targeted prospects instead of relying on friends and family.

That’s why I recommend getting plugged into a marketing platform that teaches you how to generate leads, build your contact list, and gives you the tools and live support to help you put it all together.

What Products Does Carico International Sell?

Carico’s product categories have included:

  • Stainless steel cookware and related kitchen products.
  • Water filtration and purification systems.
  • Air purification products.
  • Mattresses and other sleep-related products.
  • Juicers and kitchen accessories.

One thing I like about this type of product lineup is that it addresses everyday needs. People cook, drink water, breathe indoor air and sleep. You don’t have to invent a reason for those categories to exist.

On the other hand, they’re competitive categories. Customers can compare cookware, filtration systems and mattresses with plenty of other brands. A Carico representative needs to be able to explain the product’s value, warranty, service and total cost without relying on the income opportunity as the main selling point.

Here’s the question I always come back to when evaluating an MLM product: Would someone buy it at the asking price if there were no compensation plan attached? Real retail demand matters far more than how exciting a presentation sounds.

How Does the Carico International Compensation Plan Work?

Carico’s selling structure has included personal sales commissions and team-related compensation. However, I could not verify a current, company-wide compensation document that establishes exactly what every representative earns today.

I did find a historical compensation document associated with Nutraway Systems, dated 2015, that describes Carico-related sales roles. It lists these percentages on qualifying sales volume:

  • Booking Consultant: 9%.
  • Assistant Manager Booking Consultant: 12%.
  • District Manager Booking Consultant: 15%.
  • Certified Consultant: 18% on personal sales.
  • Certified Consultant: 9% on qualifying team sales.

The historical document also describes a possible 2% quick-payment bonus and additional qualifications and overrides. These figures are historical examples, not verified current Carico commission rates. They should not be used to estimate what you’d earn under today’s agreement.

Before enrolling, ask the company or the person recruiting you for the current written compensation plan. Specifically, ask how commissions are calculated, what sales volume qualifies, whether returns trigger chargebacks, what rank requirements apply and whether team bonuses require continuing personal production.

Does Carico International Pay Residual Income?

This is where I would spend some extra time if your main goal is long-term recurring income.

In network marketing, people sometimes use the word “residual” to describe any commission earned from the efforts of a team. But there are really two different things to consider: ongoing commissions from repeat customer purchases, and overrides earned when your team makes new sales.

Carico’s core products are generally durable household purchases. A customer might buy a water filtration system or a cookware set and use it for years. That can be great for the customer, but it doesn’t automatically create a new commission for you every month.

I could not verify a current published percentage for automatic monthly recurring customer commissions at Carico. Team overrides may provide ongoing income when the organization continues generating qualifying sales, but that is not the same as a predictable monthly subscription renewal.

Personally, I’m a big fan of residual income. I don’t want to build a work-from-home business that turns into a job where I have to start at zero every month. In my own business, I’ve experienced both the excitement of larger one-time commissions and the freedom that can come from building ongoing income. They’re not the same thing.

So if residual income is your priority, ask for a clear example showing what happens in month two, month six and month twelve after a customer buys a product. If the answer depends entirely on new sales, you’ll want to understand that before getting started.

How Much Does It Cost to Join Carico International?

I couldn’t confirm a current universal enrollment fee, starter kit price or monthly operating requirement directly from an up-to-date official agreement.

The 2015 Nutraway document referenced earlier listed registration amounts of $75 for one consultant category and $175 for another. Those are outdated historical figures, not prices you should assume apply today.

Ask for a written breakdown of enrollment fees, optional or required demonstration products, training expenses, website or software costs, and any personal sales or purchase requirements. For a business built around household products, the cost of demonstrating products can matter just as much as the sign-up fee.

How Much Money Can You Make With Carico?

There is no reliable way to predict your income simply by looking at a commission percentage. You also need to know how many qualified customers you can reach, how many actually purchase, what your average commissionable sale looks like, and what expenses you incur.

A third-party industry profile has estimated Carico’s company-wide commission payout at approximately 35% of revenue. That is not an audited income disclosure, and it tells you nothing about what a typical new representative earns. I also could not verify a current official income disclosure showing the distribution of earnings across Carico representatives.

That’s a big distinction. A company paying substantial commissions overall doesn’t mean most participants are earning substantial money. Before joining, I’d ask to see representative earnings data, including how many people earn nothing, what the median participant earns and whether the figures include business expenses.

And remember, the commission plan doesn’t find customers for you. Whether you’re selling cookware, water systems or an entirely different product, you need a repeatable way to get your offer in front of interested people.

I’ve seen people spend weeks studying compensation charts and almost no time learning how to generate leads. If you’re serious about building a business, flip that order. The plan only pays when people join and buy, and that starts with a steady flow of new prospects. Click the banner below and let’s get you rolling.

What Training and Support Does Carico Provide?

Because Carico uses a direct selling approach, product knowledge, customer presentations and sales follow-up are especially important. However, I couldn’t independently confirm a current standardized training schedule or the exact support available to every new representative.

I’d ask your prospective sponsor what training you’ll actually receive after joining. Will someone help you learn the products? Can you practice presentations? Is there live coaching when you’re struggling? And perhaps most importantly, will anyone teach you how to find new prospects beyond your personal contacts?

In my experience, recorded training alone only takes you so far. Marketing is a process of testing, adjusting and getting feedback. Having experienced people you can talk to when you’re stuck can make a real difference.

Who Are Carico International’s Top Earners and Promoters?

I wasn’t able to find a credible, current ranking of Carico’s highest-paid independent distributors, along with verified earnings figures. Some public profiles identify people in sales management roles, but a company title or online visibility doesn’t establish that someone is a top income earner.

I’d be cautious about any recruitment presentation built around a few impressive success stories without broader earnings data. Those stories may be genuine, but they don’t tell you what a typical person should expect.

Are There Complaints or Legal Concerns About Carico?

Carico has attracted scrutiny over marketing claims. The advertising watchdog Truth in Advertising has documented concerns and notices relating to income representations associated with the company, including communications in 2017 and 2024 and a reference to a 2021 Federal Trade Commission notice.

That history is worth knowing, but it should not be confused with a court ruling that Carico is a pyramid scheme or a finding that every representative made misleading claims. I did not establish either conclusion in researching this review.

My advice is simple: be skeptical of earnings promises from any company or recruiter. Ask for documentation, understand the costs and judge the opportunity on real product demand and a realistic customer acquisition plan.

Carico International Pros and Cons

What I Like

  • Founded in 1967, giving it a much longer operating history than many direct selling companies.
  • Offers tangible household products with practical uses.
  • Provides an opportunity to earn through retail sales, with team compensation described in historical plan materials.
  • Product demonstrations may appeal to people who enjoy consultative, relationship-based selling.

What Would Give Me Pause

  • I couldn’t verify a current public compensation plan with complete commission and override details.
  • There is no verified current monthly recurring commission percentage for customer renewals.
  • Durable products may require a continuing stream of new sales rather than generating frequent repeat purchases.
  • Current startup costs and representative earnings distributions were not independently confirmed.
  • Household product categories face substantial competition.

Is Carico International a Good Business Opportunity?

I think Carico is worth a closer look for someone who genuinely likes its products, enjoys demonstrating household items and wants to build a direct selling business around customer relationships.

It would be a less obvious fit for someone whose top priority is predictable monthly residual income from repeat customer purchases. That’s not a criticism of the products. It’s simply a question of whether the business model matches the income you want to build.

And if you’re already with Carico and happy with the company, I’m certainly not suggesting you need to leave. My bigger concern would be whether you’ve developed a reliable way to keep meeting new potential customers.

When I started online back in 2002, my sponsor pushed me to focus on lead generation. That advice shaped my entire business. I later learned to capture those leads onto an email list I controlled, so I could follow up over time instead of starting from scratch with every promotion.

Today I still believe those are two of the most valuable assets a marketer can build: the ability to generate targeted leads and an email list you own. Those skills can serve you whether you stay with Carico or decide to promote something else years from now.

My Final Carico International Review

Carico International is an established direct selling company with a long history and a lineup of practical household products. Its historical compensation materials show personal sales commissions and team-related earnings, but I would not rely on those old percentages without getting the current written plan.

My biggest question isn’t whether someone can make a sale. It’s whether the model fits your goals and whether you have a sustainable way to keep finding customers. If you’re looking for recurring income, get a very specific explanation of how repeat commissions work before making a decision.

Whatever company you choose, don’t put all your faith in the product presentation or the pay plan. Learn how to reach interested people, collect your own leads and follow up consistently. Those are skills you can take with you for the long haul.
