Purium ended its MLM compensation model and launched a single-level affiliate program on October 31, 2026. The company is continuing to sell nutrition products, but commissions from a distributor’s downline are no longer part of the new plan.
My first reaction? Here we go again. Another company changes direction, and the people who spent years building an organization have to deal with the consequences.
In this Purium review, I’ll cover the history, products, new commissions, and concerns. Then we’ll talk about the bigger lesson: building marketing skills and a complementary income stream before you need them.
Research updated November 1, 2026.
Purium Review: What Happened to the MLM Business?
Purium’s founders say their network marketing model became financially unsustainable. In their October 29 explanation, they describe declining sales, slower recruiting, and two years of attempts to turn things around.
They say they cut expenses, revised compensation, reduced inventory, borrowed money, and invested personal resources. They also explored a deal with a larger international network marketing company but say they couldn’t agree on protections for Purium’s products and standards. That potential partner wasn’t named.
That’s the company’s explanation. Here’s my opinion: understanding why management made the decision doesn’t make the loss any easier for distributors.
I’ve personally known multiple people who were making good money, even life-changing money, and then saw that income disappear when a company closed or stopped paying on downline sales. I’m not saying those people were Purium distributors. I’m saying I’ve seen this kind of outcome affect people I know.
You can believe in a company, work hard, and develop producers for years. A corporate decision can still remove the compensation structure that made that work valuable.
If one company announcement could wipe out most of your business income, that’s worth doing something about while things are still going well. You can learn to bring in prospects for your current business while building another potential source of recurring commissions alongside it.

Who Founded Purium, and How Long Has It Been Around?
Purium identifies Dave Sandoval and Amy Venner as its co-founders. Older company materials identify Amy as Amy Venner-Hamdi and describe Organic by Nature, Inc. as the business behind the brand.
The company’s roots go back to a one-product wholesale and retail business in 1993. That early history is different from the launch of its network marketing operation. In its current announcement, Purium describes having spent 22 years in network marketing before the 2026 transition.
Dave has been closely involved with nutrition education and product development. Amy serves as president and has overseen operations and manufacturing in Southern California.
As of this review, Purium is presenting the affiliate transition as its own continuing business, rather than an announced acquisition. Its founders say the proposed deal with another company did not proceed.
For me, the history makes the lesson stronger. This wasn’t simply a brand-new opportunity that never got off the ground. A long operating history still didn’t preserve the old income model.
What Products Does Purium Sell?
Purium sells plant-based nutrition products, shakes, supplements, and bundled nutrition programs. Products listed in its Ultimate Lifestyle Transformation package include:
- Power Shake Apple Berry: a powdered nutrition shake.
- Dark Berry Protein: a protein powder.
- Super Amino 23: an amino-acid supplement in tablet form.
- Biome Medic: a supplement marketed for digestive and microbiome support.
- Sleep Nightly, Alpha Omega, and Super CleansR: additional products included in the listed program.
The Ultimate Lifestyle Transformation is its flagship 30-day program. Purium says the products in that program will remain, while some lower-volume products may be discontinued with notice.
I’m reviewing the business here, rather than claiming these products produce particular health results. Product marketing and personal testimonials aren’t substitutes for evidence about a finished formula.
My business question is straightforward: would customers keep buying at the current price if there were no commissions attached?
That’s a question I ask about any nutrition company. Genuine product demand matters much more to long-term retention than excitement about a pay plan.
How Does the New Purium Affiliate Compensation Plan Work?
The new program pays on personally referred customer purchases, rather than multiple levels of an organization. Purium publishes these rates:
- 20% on a new customer’s first qualifying order.
- An additional 5% of that original order when an eligible first-order subscription has its first paid renewal.
- 10% on eligible repeat orders during the customer connection period.
- 10% on connected subscription renewals while the subscription remains active.
The extra 5% isn’t an ongoing increase in your renewal rate. It’s a one-time bonus calculated on the original order.
Purchases by someone you personally enrolled can qualify, but purchases by customers that person brings in don’t create another commission level for you. Your own orders don’t pay you a commission.
Recurring customer commissions still exist. What has disappeared is the ability to earn through a downline.
That’s a huge difference for someone who built an organization. Personally finding customers and developing a team of people who find customers are different kinds of work. Keeping the first earning method doesn’t replace the second.
Do Purium Affiliates Keep Their Customers Forever?
No. Under the published rules, a newly referred customer stays connected through the end of the first-order month plus six full calendar months. An active subscription can extend that connection beyond the window.
Once an unsubscribed customer’s connection expires, a later purchase through an affiliate link can establish a new connection. Purium also says a released customer who orders directly without an affiliate link can become connected to the company, with no affiliate commission on those orders.
Existing Brand Partners must opt in to the new program. The published opt-in deadline is December 31, 2026, to retain eligible customer connections.
My takeaway: don’t assume that introducing someone once means you’re permanently credited for their purchases. Attribution rules are part of the business model, and they deserve as much attention as the commission percentage.
What Does It Cost, and When Do Affiliates Get Paid?
Purium says affiliate enrollment is free, with no required monthly order, minimum purchase, or sales quota.
Its starter kit illustrates Ultimate Lifestyle Transformation pricing at $384.95 for a one-time purchase or $365.70 on subscription. These are published examples, rather than a checkout quote; confirm the current package, shipping, and taxes before ordering.
Scheduled affiliate paydays are the first and fifteenth, beginning December 15, 2026. Payment eligibility includes a 45-day wait after customer payment, expiration of the applicable return period, and no unresolved return. A sale isn’t immediate cash in your bank account.
More concerning to me is the founders’ statement about commissions earned under the previous plan. They acknowledge obligations and say their ability to pay depends on incoming business revenue. Their explanation doesn’t establish when every outstanding balance will be paid.
If you’re affected, keep your commission records and ask Customer Care for a written update specific to your account.
What About Purium’s Income Disclosure, Training, and Legal History?
Purium’s published 2024 disclosure reports average annual income of $3,228 and median annual income of $242 for Active Brand Partners. Those figures concern the former MLM model, aren’t net profits, and shouldn’t be presented as expected earnings under the new affiliate program.
I didn’t verify an earnings disclosure covering actual results from the newly launched program. At this stage, commission percentages tell you how qualifying sales are calculated, not how much a typical affiliate will make.
Support materials include an affiliate resource hub, starter kit, product assets, sharing guidance, and Customer Care. Purium also says weekly Zoom calls will continue.
There is documented legal history worth distinguishing from the current compensation change. California’s Attorney General database records a Proposition 65 matter naming Purium and related businesses over alleged lead exposure from dietary supplements. It lists a 2014 settlement with Organic by Nature totaling $90,000, along with reformulation, warning, and testing requirements.
That historical record doesn’t establish that today’s products violate those requirements, and I found no basis in the founders’ explanation to attribute the affiliate switch to that case.
What Are the Pros and Cons of Purium Now?
Potential advantages
- Free affiliate enrollment without mandatory personal purchases.
- A simpler plan centered on direct customer referrals.
- The possibility of recurring commissions from eligible subscriptions.
- An established product business with educational resources.
Concerns I’d take seriously
- The former team-based earning structure has ended.
- The founders have disclosed financial pressure and uncertainty around paying old commissions.
- Customer attribution has limits, and payouts involve a waiting period.
- The starter kit says Purium may change the plan with ten days’ notice.
The new model may suit someone who already values the products and wants to refer customers without building a team. It won’t suit someone specifically looking for multilevel compensation. Anyone needing dependable near-term income should be careful about treating potential affiliate sales as money already earned.
If your entire income depends on one company keeping its promises, you’re leaving way too much in their hands. Learn to generate your own leads, build your own email list, and develop another recurring income stream alongside Purium. Start while you still have a choice, instead of waiting for another announcement to turn your income and lifestyle upside down.

Why I Believe Network Marketers Need a Complementary Income Stream
Purium isn’t the only company to take this direction. Beachbody, known as BODi, announced in September 2024 that it would replace its MLM channel with a single-level affiliate program.
I see these changes as a reason to take diversification more seriously. That doesn’t mean joining five unrelated companies and trying to build all of them at once.
My preference is something that fits the business you’re already building: marketing tools, lead generation training, email follow-up, and live help from experienced marketers, with the option to earn recurring referral commissions.
Think about how those pieces complement each other. You learn to attract prospects and follow up for your product business. Other business builders who need those same resources may become customers of the tools and training you recommend. You’re developing useful skills and potentially another revenue source through related work.
That second income stream still has to be built. It isn’t automatic, and another provider can also change its terms. But having paying customers in more than one business can reduce your dependence on a single company’s decisions.
I’ve marketed online since 2002, and I’ve been building an email list since around 2004. When my health later limited how much I could work, those existing relationships helped me continue doing business.
I also learned that a list weakens when you stop adding new prospects. People unsubscribe, addresses stop working, and interests change. That’s why I put lead generation skills and an email list together. Both need attention.
I favor search-based content, including blogging and YouTube, because it can keep reaching people after the day it’s published. Live feedback matters too: when something isn’t working, I want someone experienced to help me figure out why.
My Final Verdict on Purium
Purium is continuing with a simpler affiliate model. People who value its products may still find reasons to buy or recommend them. The elimination of downline compensation doesn’t automatically make the products worthless.
But from the perspective of someone who spent years developing a team, I see this as another example of the income rug being pulled out from under distributors.
I still like the leverage network marketing can offer. I’ve experienced the value of building with people whose strengths complement my own. That’s exactly why losing the compensation attached to that organization is such a serious issue.
My advice is to build beyond a single pay plan. Develop the skills to generate targeted leads, build relationships through an email list you control, and consider a complementary source of recurring income while you continue working your current business.
You don’t need to wait for a shutdown or compensation announcement to start preparing.
Instead, start building something today, that compliments what you’re already doing, and creates a second recurring income to fall back on.
